Our Ash Out Services | Amarillo Area Landscaping

A Message from Keith

By Minister Keith, a proud member of Texans on Mission, I have witnessed the hand of Jesus at work, day after day, and answer the call to serve in times of disaster. We come from different churches and different walks of life, yet we stand together as brothers and sisters in Christ, united with one mission: to be the hands and feet of Jesus when people need hope the most.

As I am laying awake at 3:38 a.m., my heart is overwhelmed thinking about all of us and the sacred work Jesus Christ has called us to do. This is not work done for money or recognition. We are not paid for these call-outs. We use our own gas, drive our own vehicles, and willingly leave the comfort of home behind because the love of Christ compels us to go where there is pain, loss, and brokenness.

Right now, we are doing ash-outs in Amarillo, Texas, where families have lost everything they own. Homes are reduced to ashes. Memories are gone. Lives have been turned upside down. Yet in the middle of that heartbreak, God shows up. He shows up through every Texans on Mission team member who bends down to lift debris, who wipes away sweat and tears, and who chooses to serve with compassion, strength, and love. Every day, we are asked, “Where did you see Jesus Christ or God today?” My answer is always the same: I see Him in the faces of the men and women who show up, work hard, and refuse to let hurting families stand alone in their darkest hour.

It moves me deeply to see young men, older men, and women - some even older than me and carrying health struggles of their own - still rise up and give all they have to this mission. They work with courage, humility, and determination, and together they accomplish what seems impossible. Seeing that kind of love in action stirs something powerful in my spirit. It is why I feel called to keep going, to serve on the rebuilding team, and God willing, one day become a chaplain, so I can comfort and encourage others even more.

Every single day, Jesus calls us back out again. We eat together, pray together, fellowship together, sing together, and share devotionals that strengthen our weary hearts. At night, when we gather before resting, there is a holy peace in the room that only Jesus Christ can give. Then when morning comes, we rise again, ready to pour ourselves out in service one more time.

Before we ever step onto a job site, we pray for protection, and we pray for the families whose lives have been shattered. We ask God to give us strength for the work and grace for the people we are serving. And at the end of the day, after the dust, the ashes, and the exhaustion, we come back to clean up, sit down together, and find a meal waiting for us. Before we eat, we give thanks. Afterward, we lift our voices in songs to Jesus and our Heavenly Father, and we share testimonies of what we have seen Him do. In those sacred moments, I see Jesus and God so clearly. I see Him in the kindness, in the sacrifice, in the fellowship, and in the love that fills the room.

Even in the smallest details, God provides. Every two days, men and women wash our clothes for free, and our meals are given to us at no cost. Those simple acts of care remind me that while we may not receive earthly pay, God takes care of His servants in ways that touch both body and soul.John 3:16–17 tells us about the immeasurable love of God: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.” These verses are not just words on a page - they are the heartbeat of everything we do. They remind us that God’s love is not distant or abstract. It is real, sacrificial, life-changing, and eternal.

When I reflect on John 3:16, I realize that living this verse means more than simply quoting it. It means allowing the love of God to transform the way we live, serve, and love others.

1. Accept the Gift of Grace: God’s love is not something we earn; it is a gift poured out through Jesus Christ. To live this truth is to lay down pride, stop striving for perfection, and rest in the saving grace of God.

2. Deepen Your Belief: True belief is not just in the mind; it reaches down into the soul. It is trusting Jesus fully, surrendering every part of your life, and letting Him guide your steps every day.

3. Love Others Sacrificially: John 3:16 shows us agape love—a love willing to give, to sacrifice, and to serve. We honor that love when we choose compassion over comfort, mercy over judgment, and service over self.

4. Live with Eternal Purpose: The promise of eternal life changes everything. It reminds us that even in the ashes, even in the sorrow, God is still writing a story of hope, redemption, and victory.

That truth gives us strength to endure, courage to serve, and peace to keep going. This is where I see Jesus every day: in the ashes, in the prayers, in the songs, in the tired hands, in the shared meals, and in the hearts of those who answer His call. And every time we go, every time we serve, every time we love in His name, we become living reminders that even in the middle of disaster, God has not forgotten His people.
